Inspiration to Write

More than two weeks have passed since my last entry.  I do not have some reason to account for the lack of posting, other than I have not been inspired enough to blog as of recent.

Most of the blogging I do comes from thoughts running through my  brain that have generally been provoked by reading a book.  Many times it is good stuff, but I do not feel that it would make good blog material.  In other words, it doesn’t give me inspiration to write.

With this thought, I think I’d like to ask a very simple question to you.  The only way this will work effectively is if you actually take a few minutes and comment to make an answer.  My hope is to get a pretty good list going here.  And the question:

What inspires you to write?  live?  go about from day to day?

I look forward to seeing your reply.

Communal Relations

While growing up amongst Christ-followers there has always been a big emphasis on having a personal relationship with God.  This includesthings such as prayer and reading Scripture, and for some journaling or blogging.  This is important and should be a priority in all our lives, but on the flip side there seems to be a lack of emphasis on a communal relationship with God.

Most people who are Christ-followers generally have this down in some degree or another; whether it be by going to a Sunday  gathering or a community group.  But I believe that this idea of a communal relationship goes much deeper than that.

It is all based on relationships.  I’m not talking about just getting together to scrapbook or watch the Super Bowl, but I am suggesting we have intentional, Spirit led conversations and gatherings throughout the entire week.

Having someone over for dinner and chatting is one thing, but having someone over for dinner and sharing how God is working in the lives of one another is a totally different situation.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting us to be one of those people who try and turn every single conversation and avctivity into a God thing.  Nor am I suggesting we should be people who obnoxiously preach to anyone and everyone.  What I am suggesting is for all of us to consider pursuing a communal relationship with God as much as we pursue a personal relationship with God.

The Lack of Posting

I have been slacking, to say the least.  Blogging has been set on the back-burner and other things have been taking precedence in my life.  My hand-written journal, of which I usually post every other day, has even experienced some neglect as of recent.  Let me state my case.

Starbucks is great, but it really takes away from my weekly routine.  Granted, I work from about 4:30 to 10:00am, so my daily schedule is not interrupted.  However, waking up at four in the morning requires me to go to bed around nine or ten so that I can be responsive and productive when coming to the office.  I love the job, so do not get me wrong.

Going to three services has proven to be more of a work load than originally anticipated.  I thought my part was going to be the easiest of them all, but that is simply not the case.  For one, I am trying to make everything that happens behind the scenes run on a higher level.  Doing so requires many hours of research and experimentation.  We are getting there, but have a ways to go.  Another great thing that has consumed time is starting up a youth band.  Not easy work.

Lastly, most of my free time that is not been spent with my wife or visiting friends and family has been consumed by playing Final Fantasy IV on my Nintendo DS.  Yes, a video game.  Great game, great story.  It is like reading a good book.

There.  I have finally posted again.  No, this is not a complaint.  I love what happens in my life, but like I said above, blogging is on the back-burner for now.  At least you know what my life looks like as recent.
