We officially have a new President of the United States of America. Unless you have lived in total apathy over the past several months, you will have seen Obama’s face on various forms of media virtually everywhere. Last night I even saw Barack Obama trading cards at Target.
With such an historical event, I would like to just touch base with the Bible says about how we should be (as Christians) in relation to the president.
Let’s start with 1 Peter 2:13-15. It states:
13Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, 14or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.
As Christians, we must submit to governing authority. This means that that we must submit to whomever is in office, whether we like them or not. Some people think Barack is the best thing ever, others are not so favorable. Either way, God wants us to submit to his leadership. By submitting in this way, we are also following the will of God.
I do want to mention, however, that we should be caution of worshiping the guy. He is not a savior; Jesus is. John 14:6 says, 6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. I would not say that too many people have crossed the line here, but many have gotten pretty close. Be careful.
CONCLUSION:
Should we follow President Obama? Yes. Should he be worshiped? No.

Hey..Mick, mainly we should just pray for our leaders. The battle is the Lord’s. The office of President is ordained of God for good. The Obama’s seem like a great family. But I see our nation’s government and other governments as
‘Ceasar.’ The Kingdom of God is in the world…making us…its members…in the world but not of the world. Christ is my king and I see no conflict between the law of man I’m to adhere to…and rendering to God what is God’s. Daniel and Joseph of such great examples of how Christians should subject themselves to carnal government. They did what they were told, kept their mouths shut unless they had something important to say, continued to worship their God…spirit to Spirit, showed respect for the carnal kings, and won the love and favor of those same kings..due to the meekness, mercy, and kindness of both Daniel and Joseph. Awesome. We really could take lessons from them.

There will always be a negative few! No matter what is going on,I didn’t see any one all concerned about George Bush in his 8yrs. as to whether he Honored God or not, some people cannot get pass race..I love it that President Barack Obama is our first Black President,I love it.We are not to worship any man so why did you choose President Obama if you don’t have a problem with color???

I do not have an issue with color at all. Being in the President, however, puts Obama in a peculiar position in which many people look towards and respect. Some people just look a little too far into what he is wanting to do (as president), and may even consider him a savior.
