One of my favorite things to do is listen to records.  I am talking about the old stuff that was pressed onto vinyl.  The sound is great, especially in a world that seems to be turning completely digital.  Though it is not as crisp as listen to other formats, records have a unique sound that makes them stand alone.

This past weekend while browsing through a local record store’s inventory, something good crossed my fingers; U2′s Joshua Tree.  Little if no scratch was found, making this a great find.  How rare this particular album appears on vinyl is beyond me, but what is great is that this album is probably one of the most influential recordings of our time.

Part of my reason for liking vinyl is what I like to call ‘the hunt.’  People can spend hours browsing through old, dusty, cardboard cases and only find an album or two that is worth purchasing.  Those albums are gold, however.  So much goes into consideration here as well; the quality of the case, the surface of the record itself, how good the album is, the price, etc…

So if any of you have an old collection just sitting in a closet, let me know.  I would love to browse through and see if there is anything that I may enjoy listening to.
